A family gathering
How time flies, the last time we met was one year ago…
My family seldom has family gatherings. This time finally have a grand one, inviting those who were overseas to come back for a reunion. My aunt believes that a family reunion was important as it is company, reuniting and meeting up with long-lost relatives and friends.
On the day of the gathering, I arrived early at her house to help prepare the dishes. She had told me earlier that she was going to prepare her best dishes as she used to be a chef so she needed me.
My cousins arrived to help her shortly. We greeted each other. As I continued to prepare the dishes, I heard, my cousins quarrelling in the next room. I went inside and consulted them. This is a rare occasion please do not bicker over such trivial matters. The youngest cousin immediately sobbed her heart out leaving me guilty for hurting her feelings as I only get to see her once a year.
Suddenly the door bell rang. I went to open it, and my grandparents were here. We started the feast immediately. There was a wide range of food on the table from seafood to vegetarian food. The prawn served was crunchy, luscious and enticing. I looked at the gleeful faces smacking their lips at the food delightfully and felt a sense of happiness in my heart as general few dishes were prepared by me. They were tantalizing. The comment on the salad was that it tasted piquant, and it was my first time making the salad.
After the mouth-watering meal, we proceeded to cut the cake. We sang to my grandfather a birthday song. It was an unforgettable event. It was the best birthday party I had ever attended.
